Ropewiki: Dog Creek (lower)
-
With: Alex D, Eric R.
-
Times:
- start ascent: 1pm
- start descent: 3pm
- finish: 8pm (!)
-
Flow: moderate-high to high, increasing
-
Weather: Light to moderate rain, 50°
-
too cold: need warmer layers under the dry suit
-
ascent: way trickier than expected in the rain and clumsy boots. got stuck/fell and slid once, embarrassing but no damage
-
everything too very long with the higher flow, things like getting to bolt stations sometimes took extra effort/thinking, e.g. hand line at R4
-
R7: padded sharp edge with rope bag. worked excellently
-
Got on the pull side once, noticed immediately while PAS still attached, win
-
Alex was fucking with the creep when I got on rap, and rope slipped when I got on. No major consequence but if it had been vertical it might have been really bad. Lesson: be really careful with sequencing when creeping, adjusting anchors; clear comms between station mgr and rapeller needed.
-
I’m still struggling with nerves on raps, but felt myself getting better. Struggled on some, but did pretty well on others. R7 and R8 felt pretty good.
-
Overall difficult and challenging but in the way that I wanted
-
Would run with Alex and Eric again
